The office of the Sub-Divisional Public Relations Officer, Sohra has organized a one day Special Inter Active Programme on the theme “ Water & Its Preservation” on Thursday last at Mawmluh Community Hall, Mawmluh, Sohra wherein Shri. P.S .Lyngdoh, Sirdar Mawmluh was the Chief Guest .The Special Inter active programme is an innovative grassroots’ awareness campaign involving direct interaction between community and officials of various department.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Lyngdoh highly appreciated the staff of the department for organising such a programme which he thought would serve as an eye–opener for the people of this area with regards to preservation of water and the environment as a whole. He said that the theme selected is as important and relevant especially in this place which is highly known for its heaviest rainfall. He said that “ Water”, which is one of the basic necessity of life should be safe and free from impurities. He, however lamented over the pollution of water sources like streams and rivulets such as 'Ka Ngam-Um-U-Lah' with a fear that these steams and rivulets will become contaminated and unsafe for drinking purpose in years to come. He therefore stressed upon community participation in order to preserve water sources like trees and laid great emphasis upon the importance of proper sanitation with a request that stringent rules and action should be kept by the government against Car-washers all along rivers, streams and rivulets.
There was also an interaction session between the community and officials of different departments.
Shri.A.G.Marbaniang ,Block Extension Educator, Shella Bholaganj Block gave an intro-ductory speech on the theme “Water & Its Preservation.

L.Wanniang, Range Officer, Soil & Water Conservation, Shri.D.Toi, S.D.O (P.H.E ), Sohra, Shri.R.Langstieh, Gramsevak, Shella Bholaganj Block, Smt. B.Rynjah, Child Development Project Officer, I.C.D.S, Shella, Smt. H.Papang, Fishery Officer, Sohra highlighted upon the different schemes of their department while Dr.J.Buam spoke on Tuberculosis & Its Prevention.
Shri.R.Rajee, Matabor who chaired on the occasion delivered the vote of thanks while Smt.S.K.Phanbuh, Sub-Divisional Public Relations Officer , Sohra offered the vote of thanks.
