The office of the Child Development Project Officer, Shella Bholaganj ICDS Project Sohra in collaboration with Health Department has organised a two days training on “ empowerment of Adolescent girls ” for Anganwadi workers and Sakhi’s on the 20th march at Saitsohpen Community Hall, Sohra wherein the Sub-Divisional Officer(C ),Sohra,Shri.C.V.D.Diengdoh was the Chief-guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Diengdoh highly appreciated the staff of the department for organising such a programme which aims at empowerment of Adolescence girls and Anganwadi workers. He said that the programme will not only acquaint them with appropriate guidance on Public Services that is available and how to access them but will also make them aware of Legal Rights .He lectured on Article 15 (3) which lays Special Provision to protect the rights of women and children, Protection of women from Domes -tic violence, Child labour (Prohibition & Regulation ) Act 1986,Immoral Trafficking , Juvenile Act 2000 etc. He said that the government has recently launched the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme which will benefit many families. He therefore urged upon them to make use of their rights. He then wished the programme a success.
