Plaques  unveiled  at  Cherrapunjee , Sohra October 22 nd , 2012

Dr.R.C.Laloo, Minister  I/C  Soil & Water Conservation  Department together  with  Shri. Barkos Warjri, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government  of  Meghalaya  unveiled  today  the  three  plaques as part of the inauguration of the Multipurpose Water Conservation  Structure  at Pdengshnong, Conservation Pond Cum Recreation Park at Mawmluh  and Drinking Water Tapped Chamber at  Pomsohmen  under  Cherrapunjee Ecological  Project. The inauguration was later followed by a  function at  Mawmluh  playground.


Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Dr.Laloo lauded the staff of this department for their sincere efforts, hardwork and dedication  towards  their  job in  the successful implementation of the scheme. He underlined the need  of preservation of trees  and cooperation of the people at large. He  urged upon one and all to take up a resolution to rid off the habit of burning so as to make  Sohra  forever  green.


Speaking as  the Guest of Honour, Mr.Warjri emphasized upon the need of preser -vation of the environment and Water through Water Harvesting. He said that Water, Soil  and  air should be well preserve  and conserve for the betterment of the future generation. He called upon students to work together in order to preserve the environment for their better tomorrow.


Shri.C.V.Darlong Diengdoh, IAS,S.D.O( C), Sohra Civil Sub-Division,Shri.Titos Chyne, M.D.C,   Sohra, Shri.Freemansing Syiem, Syiem Sohra, Shri.B.Swer, Headmaster Ram Krishna Secondary School,Mawmluh and Representative of Pdengshnong, Pomsohmen and Mawmluh village were amongst others who spoke on the occasion.


Dr.Laloo  released the posters on preservation of the environment.

 

Shri.D.Langstieh, Director,Soil & water Conservation delivered  the welcome address while  Shri.H.S.kharpran, Project Manager, Cherrapunjee Ecological Project  offered the vote of thanks
